Cooyong Street

Creative image that includes titles that reads "Better City Streets. Creative a pedestrian-friendly City Centre." and a cross section of an upgraded Cooyong Street.

We are planning to upgrade Cooyong Street to make it safer and easier for residents, workers and visitors to move around, come together and relax.

The project focuses on how to create a modern city street that balances the needs of all community members, including pedestrians, cyclists and public transport users.

In enhancing the street as a key north-south connection in the City Centre, the upgrade seeks to encourage people to visit and stay longer – increasing social connection and supporting local businesses.

The project will build on the Braddon streetscape upgrade and will invite more people to explore Braddon's shops, cafes and restaurants.

Better City Streets

The Cooyong Street upgrade is part of our Better City Streets initiative, which outlines the range of social, health and economic benefits of pedestrian-friendly streets.

This include features that make public spaces easier to move around and more enjoyable to spend time in. This creates opportunities for local shops and, in turn, a more attractive and exciting City Centre for all.
