The Healthy Children's Learning Hub provides free online courses and resources to teach children and young people how to make healthy choices.

Courses are available for educators working in early childhood education and care, primary school and high school teachers.

Early childhood education and care

Food&ME Preschool Professional Learning Course

This course provides practical ideas and materials to support the delivery of nutrition education to preschool students using the Food&ME preschool curriculum resource.

Food&ME Preschool is mapped to the Early Years Learning Framework and the National Quality Standards.

It has been approved for 2 Teacher Quality Institute (TQI) teacher accredited hours.

Kids at Play Active Play Professional Learning Course

This course provides information on the importance of active play and fundamental movement skills (FMS) development.

It also helps early childhood educators feel confident to promote active play and teach FMS to children aged 3 and above in their early childhood education and care service or lower primary class.

It has been approved for 2 TQI teacher accredited hours.

Primary school

Vaping, Youth and Health Professional Learning Course

This course supports teachers of students in year 5 and 6 in the development and delivery of learning programs about e-cigarettes and vaping.

It provides evidence-based information on e-cigarettes, their health and environmental impacts, and access to a teacher toolkit including curriculum-linked classroom resources.

Vaping, Youth and Health is mapped to the Australian Curriculum version 9.

It has been approved for 2 TQI teacher accredited hours.

Food&ME Kindergarten Professional Learning Course

This course provides practical ideas and materials to support the delivery of nutrition education in the classroom using the Food&ME Kindergarten ear 6 curriculum resources.

Food&ME is mapped to the Australian Curriculum and aligns with the Australian Dietary Guidelines and the National Healthy School Canteen Guidelines.

It has been approved for 2 TQI teacher accredited hours.

High school

Getting Played: Gambling, Gaming and Young People Professional Learning Course

This course discusses the harms that can arise from gambling and gaming. It is for teachers of students in year 7 to 10.

The course:

  • helps educators teach young people about the risks of gambling
  • provides evidence around the links between gambling and video games
  • provides classroom resources mapped to the Australian Curriculum version 9.
  • supports students and school communities to respond to gambling harm.

The course has been approved for 2 TQI teacher accredited hours.

Entrepreneurs: It’s Your Move (IYM) Professional Learning Course

This course is an innovative, award-winning curriculum where students follow the design thinking and entrepreneurial process to produce solutions to improving the health of their school community. IYM is practical, interactive and fun, with strong links to Technologies and HPE.

Teaching resources support a variety of flexible options for delivery.

It has been approved for 3 TQI teacher accredited hours.

If you have an ACT Government email address, log in using your work email address and password.

How to select your course:

  1. Select the 'my learning' quick action box.
  2. In the 'find learning' search box on the right-hand side of the page, enter 'health promotion'.
  3. You will see the health promotion courses listed.
  4. Select the course you want to enrol in.
  5. Ensure that pop ups are not blocked on your browser.

Everyone else

If you are not an ACT Government employee, fill out the account creation form to request an account to access the Health Promotion courses.

You will receive an email within 24 hours with instructions on how to log in.

How to select your course:

  1. You'll find the courses listed under ‘My Learning Assignments’.
  2. Select the course you want to enrol in.
  3. Ensure that pop ups are not blocked on your browser.
