This year’s lineup offers adventure for the whole family.

The Royal Canberra Show is back for 2024.

The show has captivated Canberrans for nearly 100 years. This year’s is set to be spectacular, with firm favourites returning, exciting new additions, and a host of free activities.

When is it?

The show runs from Friday 23 to Sunday 25 February 2024.

How do I get there?

The best way to get to the show is by public transport. Not only will it save you the stress of navigating traffic and searching for a car park, but it’s also free.

All ticket holders can travel for free on light rail or by bus.

There is drop-off and parking off Flemington Road for taxis and cars with disability parking permits.

How much are tickets?

  • Children under 6 are free
  • Adult tickets are $27
  • Children’s tickets (aged 6-16) are $13
  • Student and concession tickets are $16
  • A family pass (2 adults and 2 children) is $67.

What food and drink will be available?

There will be plenty of food and drink available to suit different tastes and budgets.

World Flavours Food Court is family-friendly and will have a range of different international foods. You’ll find Turkish, Asian, Italian, German and more.

Capital Hill Food & Drink is where you’ll find Capital Brewing serving beer. There will also be BBQ food options. Find yourself a seat on the hill and enjoy a prime view of the main area.

Orana Bar & Picnic Area is a shaded outdoor option. Here, you can sip on a Canberra Distillery gin and tonic as you watch the action unfold around you.

Sideshow Alley Eats & Treats is perfect for those looking for traditional show fare. Grab yourself a dagwood dog, some fairy floss or a snow cone for a sweet taste of nostalgia.

What are the entertainment options?

The Outback Stockman’s Show is a new addition to the Canberra show. It includes horsemanship, working dogs and crowd participation, with an educational spin. You’ll also see horses, ponies, pigs, dogs, sheep, a goat and an oversized bull.

The Woodchop is returning in 2024. Watch women and men compete for the trophy of the Royal Canberra Show Champion. The woodchop area will also showcase the How Saw Shootout, described as “a daring performance with chainsaws”.

The Farmyard Nursery is a favourite among kids. Children can cuddle farmyard animals and see a selection of baby animals.

The Main Arena will showcase the horse competitions during the day. At night, you’ll find daredevil motorbike shows, the Grand Parade and the fireworks.

Don’t miss the adorable piglets racing in their sequinned vests.

There are also free interactive activities for children, including:

  • a science extravaganza show featuring robots and crazy scientists
  • craft and pottery sessions
  • milking demonstrations
  • sheep shearing.

Sideshow Alley rides will range from the teacups for smaller children to action-packed rides for those looking for an adventure.

And, of course, you can visit the Harvest Hall to see delicious food and beautiful flowers, fruit and vegetables.

What else do I need to know?

A prayer room for the Muslim community will be located upstairs in the Link Building near the Coorong Pavilion.

There are water stations located throughout the showground to refill water bottles.
