Winter in the city is back from 6-21 July.

31 May 2024

Canberra’s winter celebration, Winter in the City, will be back in the July school holidays.

The event runs between Saturday 6 July and Sunday 21 July. It offers a range of exciting things to enjoy during the colder months.

Free fire performances in Garema Place

This year, there will be free nightly displays of fire juggling, twirling and pyrotechnics from some of the country’s best fire performers.

Local artists will be there to warm up the crowds before the fiery entertainment begins.

Ice rink in Glebe Park

The popular ice rink will be back, this time in Glebe Park. There will also be a fun snow play activity.

Friends and families can put on skates and glide, surrounded by the park’s beautiful landscape.

Winter in the City: Fire and Ice

City centre and Braddon businesses can now sign up to be included in the Winter in the City: Fire and Ice digital What’s On guide.

The guide will launch on 10 June. It brings together deals, events, experiences and other activities under the new Fire and Ice theme.

The guide will help locals and visitors to discover new businesses when visiting the city centre in winter.

It will also bring more people into the city at night, boosting the ACT’s night-time economy during winter.

Winter in the City: Fire and Ice is an initiative of the City Renewal Authority co-funded by the City Centre Marketing and Improvements Levy, which is paid by commercial property owners located in the City Centre and Braddon.
