Australia’s largest electric bus depot is now open in Woden.
Full operations will commence at the depot the end of April 2025.
This is another step towards the ACT Government’s goal of a zero-emissions bus fleet by 2040.
The new depot includes:
- space to shelter up to 100 electric buses
- the latest charging technology
- options for future solar panel charging
- modern amenities for around 250 Transport Canberra staff
- 12 service bays and a workshop.
The opening of the Woden bus depot will improve the efficiency and reliability of bus services. This means more rapid and school services for the community.
A new bus timetable will start on Monday 28 April 2025, offering 94 additional bus services every weekday.
The new timetable includes:
- more AM and PM weekday peak services for key rapid routes including the rapid 2, rapid 4 and rapid 10
- more weekday and Saturday services to better connect the growing Molonglo region
- improved services for many local schools.
Timetables and school specific information are now available on the Transport Canberra webpage ahead of the improvements that begin at the start of term 2. There are no changes to light rail frequencies.
Students and families can check their school information packs and timetables here.
