There will be changes to some ACT Government services over the public holiday periods for Easter and Anzac Day.
These include changes to:
- bin collection day
- public transport frequency
- library branch opening hours
- Domestic Animal Services opening hours
- Access Canberra service centre opening hours.
Bin collections
Household waste collection services scheduled for Good Friday, 18 April 2025, have been rescheduled. They will now be collected the following day, Saturday, 19 April 2025.
If this affects you, please leave your bins on the kerb for collection by 7am on Saturday 19 April 2025.
All other collection days, including Easter Monday, 21 April 2025, and Anzac Day, Friday 25 April 2025, will remain as normal.
The Recycling Drop Off Centres located in Belconnen, Mitchell, Gungahlin, Phillip and Tuggeranong are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
There you can recycle steel and aluminium cans, paper, cardboard and rigid plastic containers.
Libraries ACT
All Libraries ACT branches will be closed from Good Friday, 18 April 2025, to Easter Monday, 21 April 2025 (inclusive). Return chutes will be closed during this period.
All Libraries ACT branches will also be closed for the Anzac Day public holiday on Friday 25 April 2025. Return chutes will stay open.
Domestic Animal Services
Domestic Animal Services will be closed from Good Friday, 18 April 2025, to Easter Monday, 21 April 2025 (inclusive).
Domestic Animal Services will also be closed on Anzac Day, Friday 25 April 2025. It will reopen on Saturday, 26 April 2025 from 10am to 2pm.
Rangers will operate as normal during the holiday period.

Public transport
Transport Canberra services will run to a public holiday (Sunday) bus timetable and light rail frequency on:
- Good Friday – Friday, 18 April 2025
- Easter Sunday – Sunday, 20 April 2025
- Easter Monday – Monday, 21 April 2025
- Anzac Day – Friday, 25 April 2025.
On Easter Saturday, 19 April 2025, services will run to the regular Saturday bus timetable and light rail frequency.
New bus timetable: An improved bus timetable will begin at the start of school term two on Monday, 28 April 2025.

Access Canberra
Access Canberra will offer reduced services over the Easter long weekend and Anzac Day public holiday.
Service Centres and Specialised Centres will be closed on:
- Good Friday – Friday, 18 April
- Easter Monday – Monday, 21 April
- Anzac Day – Friday 25, April
On public holidays, the Access Canberra Contact Centre (13 22 81) will be open from 9am to 5pm. There will be limited services available on Good Friday.
Outside these times, the Access Canberra Contact Centre will be open to report urgent public safety issues like fallen trees and faulty traffic lights 24/7.
