The Canberra Lunar New Year celebration is on Saturday 1 February, marking the first new moon of a lunar calendar year.
Honour the Year of the Snake by winding your way around Woolley Street.
Get there from 10am to celebrate the Lunar New Year with a free street party that includes exciting performances and flavoursome food. Each activity will honour the diverse cultures that celebrate Lunar New Year, sharing the knowledge and wisdom of traditions spanning thousands of years.

Performances and activities
Over 12 entertaining hours, you can enjoy:
- routines from Canberra Prosperous Mountain Dragon and Lion Dance
- Chinese classical dance
- Multicultural songs and dance
- Kung Fu demonstrations
- a beat box crew
- DJ sets.
This year’s lineup also includes an after-dinner street parade.
Children and their families can enjoy interactive activities throughout the day at the dedicated kids area with:
- face painting
- Zodiac balloon animals
- calligraphy
- and much more.
